Tea Infused Simple Syrup

It’s often a badge of pride for coffee shops and cafes to have “house-made syrups”. Syrup flavors give more options for customization and open up a world of possibilities for exciting seasonal drink specials. Have you considered making the syrup infusions with tea? At K&K, we use all real fruits, flowers, herbs, and spices that infuse into simple syrup far better than flavored teas. It gives a complexity and depth of flavor that can take your drinks to the next level. Here is a “Simple” tea infused syrup recipe to get you started-

Dissolve 1/2 cup pure cane sugar & 1/2 cup filtered water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and add a heaping tablespoon of K&K Tea (blend of your choice). Stir in tea leaves, cover saucepan with lid and turn heat down to low. Simmer on low for 8-12min. Strain through fine mesh, let cool and store infused syrup in fridge. Consume within 3 weeks.

Pro Tip: K&K tea blends with Black or Green Teas should simmer on the lower end of the suggested time and be strained right away to not release excess tannins (bitterness). Herbal Blends can be simmered on the longer end and left to cool before straining.
